Poetry Questions:

1.    Why are there so many different stereotypes against people in different social classes?

2.    How do people deal with accusations towards them?

3.    What are the different points of views on the different ‘social classes’?

4.    Why do expats have a narrow view on Qatar and Qatari’s? How do the Qatari’s view it as?

5.    How do expats view Qatari’s? Why do they think Qatari’s are rich close-minded terrorists? (Stereotypically).

1.    I think this question will help me with my poem because it is a question that answers so much in peoples, focusing on Qatari’s, lives. It affects many people.

2.    This question will give opinions and different views of dealing with things; it will help people express their issues with the different classes.

3.    I hope that people from this question will learn what other people face daily, specifically because of their social classes and how/why they are being criticized and if people criticize others.

4.    This question can help others learn from other people’s views and how they see things. They will hopefully learn how people are affected by it. It balances out the poem.

5.    I think with this question it will answer other questions people have. It will help my poem become more ‘rounded’ and tell things from different points of views. It will also be a political answer, and might have people think again about what they believe in.

Steps:

  •  Use a variety of resource materials to gather information for a research topic.

1)    List possible resources.

  •  Interview with Sheikh Mohammed bin Faisal AL-Thani- a son of a very succesful businness man here in Qatar, who has witnessed the dramatic change here in Qatar over the past years. This is reliable because it is a Qatari telling it how he sees it, and it isnt being played with; its the truth to that person.

  • Teaching Mustafa and Other Young Terrorists- a book about a lady who came to Qatar and tells the 'true' story of living in Qatar and teaching eight young kids who are 'terrorists'... It is reliable, because it's about someone who comes to live in Qatar and how they view Qatar, but they could be over-exaggerating, theres two sides to a story.

  • Other Interviews- Their point of view on this subject it is really interesting what they have to say about this, because they are viwing it from the inside out. People Interviewed(Qatari's) : Aalia Al-Khater   Expats: Randa Sakallah  ***** link at the top of the page.

2)    Explain how/why each resource may be reliable

( In step 1)

3)    Choose best resources

-Al Jazeera

-Interviews with the various people.

-BBC article

-Teaching Mustafa and Other Young Terrorists.

4)    Compose a poem using information from the sources.

  • Organize information and ideas from multiple sources in systematic ways.

5)    Apply each resource to your poem

Al Jazeera: an article about the anti-terrorism in Qatar, which proves that Qatar is making an effort to stop terrorism and violence here.

Interviews: Views of the change and labor in Qatar, which gives different views of this subject.

BBC Article: A view of the bombing in Qatar from outsiders looking in, which is a big point in my poem.

Teaching Mustafa and Other Young Terrorist: Another view of an 'outsider' in Qatar and what they think of the country and terrorism here.

  • Determine approprietness of an information source for a resouce topic.

6)    Relate the information to the research topic.

Al Jazeera: Talks about terrorism in Qatar, and what is being done.

Interviews: Views of the Qataris of Qatar and what is going on, how they feel with these accusations.

BBC Article: A view of what happened in Qatar from a point of view of people who dont live in Qatar, from the outside in.

Teaching Mustafa and Other Young Terrorist: A view
